Enigin Plc - The Energy Savers

Here at Enigin we strive to save businesses money, time and energy. All of these factors are important in todays world, for the public, for business owners, workers, homeowners and governments.

Many people today are talking about how they can save money. What steps can they take to make some cut backs. Even small, trivial changes which can make a larger difference over time.

Also, time is becoming more and more important and short. People simply do not have enough time in their day, week, month or year to accomplish all the need to and want to do.

And lastly, energy, people are now becoming more energy aware. They are realising the benefits of saving energy and becoming energy efficient.

All of these three concerns are affecting everyone. New technologies are constantly being advertised to save us time, you can now record all the tv you want without having to make the time to sit and watch something when it is on. There are lists upon lists of websites you can go through to find simple and quick ways to save money. From changing around credit card providers, utility providers, to switching of plug sockets when not in use!

And as regards to saving energy, this is linked to both the ideas of saving money and saving time. You have hybrid cars, electric cars, energy star electrical items, energy saving lightbulbs, solar power, wind power and recycled materials.

Here at Enigin we are equipped and ready to help businesses be able to meet all the demands of today’s world, in saving time, money and energy. It is what we do and what we will continue to always do.

The Great Enigin Knowledge Base

Here at Enigin HQ, we’ve all been involved in producing the online knowledge base for our partners and distributors.  I’ve seen similar things on other websites and have found them very useful, but have never really thought about what goes into producing them and making them happen.  My colleague responsible for moderating the Enigin Knowledge Base was away all last week attending an exhibition so I was given the responsibility of keeping an eye on all incoming ‘tickets’ and assigning them to different Enigin team members which was very interesting.

So basically, an Enigin Partner or distributor logs into our Knowledge Base and looks for an answer to their question.  If they can’t see anything relating to it, they can post a ‘unique question’.  This will instantly get sent through to the Knowledge Base team who will answer it for them as well as add the question to the Enigin Knowledge Base so everyone can benefit from it.

As well as questions and answers for each Enigin product, there are videos, demonstrations, manuals, software updates and exciting Enigin news.  This is a very useful tool which makes the whole enquiry process a lot more user friendly and streamlined.

Enigin Eniscope - The Advanced Smart Meter

More and more businesses today are becoming more interested in saving energy, but not just the in the small ways, like changing light bulbs, turning lights off - there is a much more efficient and advanced way to do it. And here at Enigin Plc we have the answer.

Granted these “smaller” ways are helpful, efficient and very advisable but why not take it one step further. Today we all use dozens… hundreds… even thousands of energy-powered items without even thinking. Lighting, air-conditioning, escalators, production facilities, conveyors & refrigeration to name just a few. Essential tools – but what do they cost to run?

Weather from one day to the next - Enigin

I just can’t get my head round the worlds climate! So we are now in May, spring time. We have had so far in the UK, rain, sleet, sun, cloud and even some ash! I heard on the radio only this evening that in America they have had weather like that of a Tsunami over the last few days.

The last week or two I have literally had no idea what the next day might bring. We have had one day with sunshine and warmth, the next cold and raining. You just can’t prepare for it. Here at Enigin Plc you never know what your going to come to work expecting the day to carry on like. You may even arrive at Enigin with the sun blaring only to leave with the rain pouring.

And it is cold! Last night we had to have the heating on during the evening. Now being May, and remembering energy efficiency, we turned it off before going to bed, but it was so cold! It truly was freezing getting into bed, with socks and jumper to try and warm up.

So as to what is coming the next day, next week or into the summer months, really, who does know??

Weather - climate linked?

I’ve been wondering of late what is happening with our British weather.  Firstly, we had the snow at the beginning of the year that brought the UK to a standstill.  Here at Enigin HQ, the majority of staff were stuck at home due to dangerous driving conditions.  Although it was fun for the first couple of days, its wasn’t so when supplies started drying up as the stores couldn’t restock their shelves.  

Apparently it cost the economy up to £690 million a day and up to £14.5 billion in lost business due to missed orders, lost trade from shoppers staying at home and the costs of workers failing to turn up. 

And just recently the volcano ash has affected all flights in and out of the UK.   Am I the only one thinking these natural disasters seem to be occurring more and more often?  Or is it just its always happened but the media expose it on a greater scale now?

Enigin - The Dark Nights

Coming to the end of the year in the Enigin office, all Enigin employees are working hard on projects with the aim of rounding them up ready to start the new year with a clean canvas. The afternoons start to get dark at around 4 which instantly makes me sleepy.  I don’t know how those guys in the Nordic Countries deal with it although if you do a wiki search on them, it states that a study of more than 2000 people there found seasonal affective disorder and depression unexpectedly low.  Apparently this could be attributed to the large amount of fish they eat.  So I guess my advice to you today is if you’re feeling a bit depressed cos the winter months are closing in, eat more fish.

Here at Enigin HQ, the Enigin team find it important to keep up to date with the latest news and issues affecting our climate and the field we work in.  

As the Enigin Office Manager, I have been intrigued by what is happening in Copenhagen with the climate summit which is now in full swing.  Delegates from 192 countries are aiming to reach a new treaty on climate change.  Some might argue that this couldn’t have happened at a worse time with the UN launching an investigation into the recent ‘Climategate’ scandal. 

These claims that UK scientists manipulated global warming data to support the theory that it is man made does nothing for the scientific world’s reputation.  The public are now very sceptical, unable to determine who are corrupt and biased and who have actually investigated climate change honestly.

When it comes to energy consumption; Enigin presents the facts in a very clear, uncomplicated format.  Our Eniscope offers real-time monitoring on your energy consumption with an easy to use interface to show you exactly what you’re using at any time.  Instantly you can spot trends and wastage - how you use this information is up to you but it’s your decision - it allows you to be in control of your carbon footprint, where as before all you could do is rely on what people tell you.

Enigin Saving Energy

Here in the actual Enigin HQ, we are always looking at ways to cut down our carbon footprint, whether its for our own office or developing new products that may benefit other industries. 

In every room we have the Enigin ‘Light Energy Saver System’ (LESS) which senses how light the room is, particularly when its bright outside, and adjusts the light fittings accordingly.  I particularly like this feature as I am not a big fan of artifical light but this system works alongside the natural lighting outside which is a good thing to have. 

Another bonus to this is that by using less artifical lighting, we are using less electricity and therefore making a significant saving on how much the office costs to run.
